Questions about InfoLinker

The InfoLinker does not start.
Replace the battery and press the power button again.
The power LED blinks and nothing is displayed on the screen.
The InfoLinker is in the sleep mode.
Press the power button to cancel the sleep mode.
The InfoLinker cannot be terminated.
Remove the battery to terminate it.
How long can I use an InfoLinker?
Continuous operating time is approximately one hour per battery.
* It operates longer with the separately-sold feeding adapter.
The operating time depends on the capacity of the connected mobile battery.
Can I install other vendors’ Android applications on the Infolinker WUZ-01B with Android 4.x OS?
Direct installation from GooglePlay is not possible. However, you can install applications using our development environment for InfoLinker.

* APK files are required.
Data cannot be transferred between the computer and InfoLinker that are connected with an USB cable.
Try the following procedure.
1) Check whether the power of the InfoLinker connected with the computer is ON.
2) Replace the USB cable and retry data transfer.
3) If the above steps does not solve the problem, the driver recognition may have failed.
Open Device Manager and check whether a “?” mark is displayed on the connected InfoLinker.
* If a “?” is displayed, download the development environment from our company website shown below and install the InfoLinker driver.(See the following webpage for information on the development environment.)
What is the minimum brightness (lx) required for shooting with the built-in camera?
Approximately 10 lx.
Can any adverse effects such as image sensor burning occur if the built-in camera is used against the light?
Burning-in does not occur in a short period of time even if the camera is used against the sunlight. However, if the camera is exposed to the sunlight for a long period of time, the micro-lens will be affected by ultraviolet rays.
Is it possible to use InfoLinkers in an environment where equipment emits electromagnetic waves?
The use in an environment where electromagnetic waves are emitted may cause devices to malfunction, as they include semiconducting parts.
The status of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is OFF.
Display the Home screen, and press and hold the second button from the battery lid side.
The screen displays “reset”, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turn ON.

The Bluetooth paring setting is not saved in the InfoLinker.
You can save the Bluetooth paring setting by switching the InfoLinker to sleep mode after the paring is established. To switch to sleep mode, press and hold the power button.
Once the setting is saved, Bluetooth connection will be automatically established when a Bluetooth device is operated.
Connection by tethering cannot be performed.
Connection may fail if the SSID (terminal name) contains a double-byte character.
Use only single-byte characters to create an SSID.

Questions about picoLinker

Nothing is displayed on the screen of the picoLinker after connecting it with an Android terminal via the HDMI adapter.
The Android terminal is required to support the HDMI alternate mode.
Nothing is displayed on the screen of the picoLinker after converting the USB connector of the Android terminal from type-A to type-C.
Even if you change the USB connector from type-A to type-C, no image is displayed because image data is not transmitted.
No sound is output from the speaker of the terminal after it is connected with the picoLinker.
Audio output from the terminal speaker is stopped once connection with a picoLinker is established.
Why colors look differently depending on the viewing angle?
Due to product specification. (LCD is dependent on the viewing angle.)
What is picoLinker’s HDMI version?
The HDMI version is 1.4b.
Do picoLinkers support image inputs other than 1,280×720 px at 60 fps?
They do not support.
Why a mobile battery is required for use with an iPhone (Lightning Connector)?
Apple’s Lightning connector is for only charging iPhones, so the HDMI adapter needs its own power supply.

Questions about Remote Maintenance System (RMS)

I cannot start RMS.exe.
The RMS requires a microphone and speaker for its audio communication.
Open Device Manager and check that the following devices are displayed.
1) Microphone (recognized device)
2) Speaker (recognized device)
My communication partner is not displayed in the RMS.
(The message “Searching for server” is displayed.)
1) Check that the terminal to which you want to connect is activated.
2) Check that the terminal is connected to the communication network (Wi-Fi).
3) Check that UDP port 7066 is open.
・If a firewall is enabled on your computer, you need to open UDP port 7066.
・Contact your network administrator to check whether UDP port 7066 is open.
(RMS performs communications via UDP port 7066.)
The message “License is expired or not registered” is displayed.
1) Check that the license is properly acquired.
2) Check the expiry date of the license.
* See the email we sent you when you purchased the license.
3) If the license is not expired, send an inquiry to the following email address.
The message “Connecting in local communication mode” is displayed.
Check that the terminals are connected to the communication network (Wi-Fi).
The message “Connecting to relay server” is displayed.
1) Check that the terminals are connected to the communication network (Wi-Fi).
2) Check that UDP port 7066 is open.
・If a firewall is enabled on your computer, open UDP port 7066 by following the procedure provided at the following URL.
・Contact your network administrator to check whether UDP port 7066 is open.
(RMS performs communications via UDP port 7066.)
The message “Client already exists” is displayed.
An RMS project with the same name is already started.
Change the name of your RMS project using the following procedure.
For RMS for PC,
1) Select RMS folder > “data” folder and open “Rms.dat” file on a text editor.
2) In the opened “Rms.dat” file, input a new name to “NAME=” under ”[SETTING]”, and save the file.
This completes the RMS name change.
For RMS for Android,
1) Connect with the computer using the USB cable.
2) Create the ”name.dat” file by entering a new name on a text editor.
3) Copy and paste the “name.dat” file to the ”RMSTouch” folder in the Android storage.
This completes the RMS name change.
The message “Flash file not found” is displayed.
You might be trying to start the RMS using a compressed file.
・Decompress the file before you start it.
The camera is not shown in the RMS.
1) Check that the web camera is connected.
2) Check that the camera driver is installed.
3) Click the setting button on the upper right corner of the RMS screen, and select a camera by clicking the text bar under Camera Selection.
Which communication port do you use for RMS?
UDP port 7066 is used for two-way communications.
For details on the settings, please ask your network administrator.
Will you give the information on the baud rate for RMS?
The following baud rates are required to run RMS.
For 1-to-1 (320×240) connection: 8 Mbps max.
For 1-to-1 (640×480) connection: 15 Mbps max.
Are RMS communications encrypted?
Yes, they are encrypted.
The encryption system uses RSA (2048 bits) and AES (256 bits).
When there is no internet connection, the message “Searching for server” is displayed after starting RMS and I cannot use the RMS.
Can I use the RMS without internet connection?
The version of your RMS requires internet connection. *The local version (no internet connection required) is available, but you need the dedicated equipment (AP) and settings.
How can I start using the local version of RMS?
1) First, make a compact Wi-Fi router ready.(Normal-size routers can be used, too.)
2) Install the local version of RMS on the InfoLinker. (This step is performed by WESTUNITIS.)
3) Using WUQR, register the SSID and password of the compact Wi-Fi router.
4) Install the local version of RMS on a computer which you want to use for local RMS.
(Once installed, send the key for license key request to WESTUNITIS via email. Then, we send you the license key. You can start using the local RMS by registering the license key.)
Are communications between wearable device, application program and computer encrypted?
If so, can you publish the encryption method?
RMS communications are encrypted.
The encryption system uses RSA (2048 bits) and AES (256 bits).
Once authentication is completed, do wearable devices and computers communicate directly?
Authentication is performed periodically even within an intranet in which direct communications are possible.
The chatting field is at the lower right corner of the computer screen. Is it possible to send texts in the field to a wearable device?
If it is possible, can the wearable device send texts back?
Yes, it is possible to send texts from a computer to wearable devices.
Sending texts back from a wearable device is possible too, but you need to use a mouse that can be connected with the wearable device.
Which data format is used for sending and receiving images?
If I record one-minute long video, how large will the file be?
The data format is “MotionJPEG”.
If you record 320×240 images on video using an InfoLinker, the file size will be approximately 7 MB.
I’d like to ask about TLS connection.
1) Is it possible to install user-created APL programs?
2) If possible, how can I install them?
3) Does your product support TLS in the first place?
“1) Yes, you can install your original APL programs.
Although installed applications and imported certificates are out of the scope of our support,
Infolinker itself is still under warranty even after you access Andoroid OS, install APK files, or set certificates.
2) You can install them via a computer.
(Use AdbInput.)
The installation procedure is as follows.(For details, refer to the manual of the development kit.)
a. From our development environment, install AdbInput on your computer.
b. Include “original.apk” in “installapk folder” under “AdbInput folder”.
c. Start InfoLinker and connect it with the computer.
d. Start AdbInput. Check that “original.apk” is displayed by selecting “Get list” at the bottom of the screen.
After checking, select “Start installation”.
* To import a certificate, connect a USB mass storage device in which the certificate is saved to MicroUSB port, and use a paired Bluetooth mouse to complete the import.
Using the Infolinker, read the QR code (Sample QR_ANDROID_SETTING) created with the QR maker. Display the Android setting screen and select Security > Password setting > installation from USB storage.
3) Our InfoLinker supports TLS with Android OS 4.2.2.
* To make TLS settings, you need to connect a USB memory and Bluetooth mouse to the InfoLinker.
How many users can be connected at the same time after purchasing a license for each?
Can more than a thousand devices be connected simultaneously if the specification of the server is high enough?(At what scale do you conduct operating tests?)
1) We develop our products on the assumption that several hundred devices are connected simultaneously.
However, due to the limitation on the environment, we usually use dozens of devices to conduct in-house connection tests.
(The server with the recommended specification is used for the tests.) The level of specification of the authentication server should match the number of licenses.
Simultaneous connection of more than a thousand devices may require very high baud rates.
(For actual system introduction, factors such as server sizing and baud rate should be determined based on consultation in each client project.)
Is it possible to perform teleconference when three users are connected via RMS? Or, only P2P communications are allowed?
* In our operation environment, it feels like we can hear each other through the microphone and speaker of the central terminal.
1) Communications between terminals are performed on P2P basis. However, our RMS comes in the following two types.
RMS client (computer version)
Android version
The computer version allows simultaneous connection of a computer and two terminals, so it is possible to use them for teleconference.
The terminals are connected as follows:
PC1 is connected with PC2, PC1 is also connected with PC3, and PC2 is connected with PC3.
InfoLinker RMS (Android version) allows only one communication partner (P2P), so teleconference cannot be performed.
1) Does RMS allow direct communications between InfoLinkers?
(without the mediation of a computer)
2) If 1) is allowed, can I establish communications using only InfoLinkers?
(without using a mouse or other devices)
3) Is it possible to start video recording locally? I also have other questions, so I’d like to have a copy of the manual that describes how to operate InfoLinkers for RMS.
1) Direct communication (connection) between InfoLinkers is possible.
It is performed via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
However, this type of connection also requires the RMS server for authentication.
2) You cannot establish communications by using only InfoLinkers.
3) Yes, the InfoLinker RMS allows you to record video locally.
1) Does RMS run on Windows 8?
* Can I use different devices such as a Windows tablet?
2) If Windows 8 cannot be used, do you have any plan to change the specification?
1) RMS runs on Windows 8 and 8.1.
We conducted operation checks using different devices.
2) Windows 8 is already supported.
1) Can RMS application be installed on an Andorid tablet?
2) Can images received by the InfoLinker be displayed on a tablet? (via Bluetooth, etc.)
Some may feel the InfoLinker screen too small, so it would be helpful if there are any ways to transfer images to tablets for enlargement.
3) Which Android version is supported?
1) Yes, RMS runs on Android tablets, too.
* Note that only one communication partner is allowed, similarly to InfoLinkers.(P2P)
2) InfoLinker does not support a function that displays images on the screens of other terminals via Bluetooth or other communication technologies.
3) RMS (Android version) runs on Android OS 4.2 or later.
How to make UDP port 7066 firewall settings
1) Select “System and Security” under Control Panel.
2) Select “Windows Firewall”.
3) Select “Advanced Settings”.
4) Select “New Rule” for “Inbound rules” (also for “Outbound rules”).
5) Check “Port” and click the Next button.
6) Check “UDP” and “Specific local ports”. Enter “7066” to the specific local ports field and click the Next button.
7) Check “Allow the connection” and click the Next button.
8) Check all items and click the Next button.
9) Enter the name of the rule and click the Finish button. *Repeat the above setting for “Outbound rules”.
